Best practices and paths for the socio-economic integration of migrant women in Milan
MILE coordinator ICEI and MILE partner EMIT Feltrinelli, have organised on th 4 of December, a practice workshop on the topic of women labour integration in the local territory of Milan.
The event was an important occasion to connect relevant stakeholder who are active on the topic of assisting and integrating women with a migration background in Milan.
Participants worked at simulation activities divided in groups, elaborating personalized support systems for 3 different profiles of migrant women. They also generated policy recommendations and detailed analysis regarding clients’ needs and available services.
After a presentation on the situation of migrant women in Italy (including data and statistics regarding who they are, their employment level, etc.) a group of organisations working with migrant women in Milan presented their good practices: IRENE Association, CRINALI Cooperative, Association Mums at School and ITALMEX. Afterwards, participating split into 3 groups, each made up of a mix of organisations, and, on the basis of a case study, jointly designed an integration path for a migrant woman. Participants to the meeting were the Italian partners plus 11 stakeholders including the above mentioned organisations, other not-for-profit organisations working with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, two national trade unions (CISL and CGIL), one and the national research centre on migration ISMU Foundation.
