ROLE IN PROJECT MILE
ICEI is the leading partner of MILE project, coordinating actions and procedures to ensure the smooth completion of tasks and the achievements of high quality results. ICEI is also responsible for coordinating the Technical Partners in Italy implementing the project’s activities in the country.
ICEI
is an NGO based in Milan and established in 1977. Its mission is to foster inclusive and sustainable communities in Italy and worldwide, via a participatory approach and promoting knowledge transfer, capacity building and effective actions.
In developing countries in Asia, Africa and South America, ICEI works on sustainable agriculture and responsible tourism. In Italy and Europe, ICEI carries out initiatives mainly targeted to vulnerable groups, such as young people (NEETs, etc.) and migrants. Projects with these beneficiaries address topics including: active and intercultural citizenship, fight against discrimination and intolerance, promotion of social cohesion, inclusion in the labour market, youth and migrant entrepreneurship. In its work with migrants, ICEI has been implementing local, national and European projects, in collaboration with public and private organisations (local authorities, training and business support organisations, youth and migrants’ associations, etc.), to foster their inclusion in the labour market.
ICEI is a member of the Council of Europe Intercultural Cities Programme Experts (https://www.coe.int/en/web/interculturalcities/icc-experts) and is the national coordinator of the Italian network of the Intercultural Cities “Rete del Dialogo”, grouping more than 27 Italian cities.
